Prior to joining Hanson Bridgett, Lance clerked for the San Mateo County Counsel where he authored a successful summary-judgment motion, protecting the County from liability in a sidewalk slip-and-fall case. He also prosecuted and won a Superior Court trial (as a "certified law student"), enabling the County to commit a dangerous mentally-ill individual.

Before law school, Lance worked as a business analyst at Accenture and as a product manager at a startup that was acquired by Citibank. He also taught reading to disadvantaged high school students.
