Kurt has practiced labor and employment law, as well as class action and other complex litigation for more than 15 years. He serves both public and private sector clients.
Kurt's advice, trial and appellate practice covers complex litigation strategy, wage and hour law, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, whistleblower issues, traditional labor law, arbitration, collective bargaining, due process and government ethics. He has experience with HEERA, EERA, MMBA, NLRA, RLA, 13(c) of the Federal Transit Act and the Public Safety Officers Procedural Bill of Rights Act.
Kurt regularly serves as lead defense counsel in complex multi-party litigation. In the private sector, he has represented franchisee groups in complex class-action related lawsuits. And in the public sector he has appeared before the California Supreme Court to represent more than 100 California cities and local government entities in an amicus effort.
Kurt also serves as national employment counsel for a Silicon Valley based Fortune 500 company, including coordination of outside litigation counsel.
Kurt advises the public and private sectors about disability access laws and has litigated related cases for more than a decade. He is well versed in the ADA, the Unruh Act, the California Disabled Persons Act, Health & Safety Code sections 19955 et seq., the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines and the California Access Compliance Building Regulations.
