Megan represents businesses, individuals, and public agencies in a wide range of civil matters in state and federal court, including complex multi-party and class action cases. Megan also has experience litigating before the International Court of Arbitration.

Megan's practice covers a full range of business-related litigation involving contract disputes, franchise issues, fraud and unfair business practices, professional malpractice, and disability access. Megan has also litigated numerous adversary proceedings on behalf of bankruptcy trustees in bankruptcy court. For her government clients, Megan litigates in a variety of areas, including civil rights and tort defense cases involving Section 1983 claims, as well as dangerous condition of public property, design immunity, and other personal injury matters.

Megan is also committed to providing pro bono legal services to the Bay Area community, including representation in asylum, domestic violence, and unlawful detainer actions. She was recently successful in obtaining asylum for a young Kenyan woman who was persecuted on account of her membership in a particular social group.

Representative Work

Obtained favorable settlement for former business owner seeking payment of more than $500,000 under a stock purchase agreement.

Darensburg v. Metropolitan Transportation Commission, 636 F.3d 511 (9th Cir. 2011).  Megan assisted in litigating, trying, and winning this precedent-setting class action involving Title VI claims that a regional transportation planning agency discriminated against minority bus riders in its distribution of transit funds.

Valdivia v. Brown and L.H. v. BrownMegan assists in representing the State in each of these class actions against the CDCR and related entities. The Valdivia case relates to the State’s adult parole revocation process, while the L.H. case involves the parole revocation process for juvenile offenders.
