Joel S. Goldman devotes his practice to senior housing and health care law, including the representation of a wide array of developers and owners of senior care communities. Areas of specialization include: development and ongoing representation of assisted living and other senior communities; licensure and regulatory issues; resident issues; risk management issues; managed health care issues; disability discrimination issues under Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Fair Housing Act; contract drafting and negotiations.

Joel has been a noted presenter at numerous conferences and seminars throughout the United States for organizations including Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA), The Erickson School of Aging Studies, UMBC, Risk Management Course, National Association for Senior Living Industry Executives (NASLIE), American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA), The Healthcare Forum, Healthcare Financial Management Association, California Assisted Living Association (CALA), Aging Services of California, American Society on Aging, American Health Lawyers Association, American Seniors Housing Association (ASHA), San Francisco Bar Association, Center for Continuing Medical Education and University of Santa Clara School of Law. Joel's practical approach to issues and vast experience with senior care communities also make him a popular presenter at in-house risk management training programs for multi-facility providers.
