Summer 1998
Hanson Bridgett 1998 Summer Associates Take their Place
Hanson
Bridgett welcomes an especially gifted group of law students to
its 1998 Summer Associate Program.
Below, these talented J.D. candidates share a little bit about themselves
and why they decided to join the firm for the summer: Kristin
Lamson, Linh D. Trinh,
Tish Loeb, Maya
Solo, Courtney M. Coates,
and Susan L. Whitney.
Kristin Lamson
University of San Francisco, J.D. Candidate,
1999
University of Pennsylvania, B.A. Economics 1989
I came to Hanson Bridgett because I felt that the down to earth and very personable environment would be a great place to work and learn.
I am interested in the Public Agency Section, and have a strong interest in economic and social justice legal issues.
I am an outdoor enthusiast and budding chef.
Linh D. Trinh
University of California, Boalt Hall School
of Law, J.D. Candidate,1999
Stanford University, Bachelor of Arts and Science, 1990
What attracted me to Hanson Bridgett was the breadth of expertise
within the medium-sized firm of dynamic, down-to-earth, and extraordinarily
friendly attorneys. Hanson Bridgett also has an excellent reputation
among attorneys and law students with whom I have spoken.
I will pursue either public agency, labor and employment, or litigation law.
I spent part of my childhood in Vietnam. During junior high school in Southern California, I volunteered as a candy-striper at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Tish Loeb
Loyola Law School, J.D., (expected, May 1999)
Stanford Law School, Visiting Student (1998-99)
University of Massachusetts, Boston M.S. Public Affairs
University of California, Davis , B.S. Biochemistry
Despite the growing size of Hanson Bridgett, there is a fundamental focus on people. Even the most senior partners are very approachable and take the time to chat or help on a research project. There seems to be sincere camaraderie and respect among the attorneys and staff.
I am interested in anything but criminal defense or family law.
I had my "15 minutes of fame" on National Public Radio, but it wasn't exactly high-brow journalism. As a radio news reporter, I was assigned to cover the Sacramento killer grandma, Dorothea Montalvo Puente, who drugged her victims for their social security checks and buried their bodies in her backyard.
For several years, I was the record-holder for both the shot put and discus at my high school...really.
I don't own a television.
Maya Solo
University of California at Berkeley, Boalt
Hall School of Law J.D. Candidate, 1999
University of California at Santa Cruz, B.A. in History, 1995
I came to Hanson Bridgett because I had had the opportunity to meet several associates previously and really liked them (i.e., the people); I also was excited about Hanson Bridgett's general emphasis in Public Law.
Long-term, I am interested in practicing law that has a positive impact on the Bay Area community; I am not quite sure what specialization I want to develop to get me there, although I am very excited about the Public Agency Section here at Hanson Bridgett.
I come from an eclectic family, with roots in Austria, Mexico and New York. I grew up mostly in San Francisco, but spent considerable parts of my childhood in Munich and New York.
Courtney M. Coates
University of California, Los Angeles, B.A.s
in History and Sociology (Specialization: Political Sociology)
University of California, Hastings College of the Law , J. D.
Three reasons for joining Hanson Bridgett:
1. its stellar reputation in the professional community
2. its progressive environment and diverse character of attorneys
3. its appealing location in the heart of the city.
My practice goal is Litigation.
Among my personal interests are Fine Arts and Entertainment. I am a published songwriter and recording artist-- JDI and Holy Terra Records and a member of American Society of Composers Artists and Producers (ASCAP).
Susan L. Whitney
Second year student at the University of
San Francisco School of Law.
William Smith College, B.A. in Political Science
I came to Hanson Bridgett because I enjoyed the people that I met
during the interview process, and had heard very positive things
about the firm.
I would like to pursue a career in either litigation or business law.
I grew up in Maine and New Hampshire, but I am, after only three years, an avid fan of San Francisco.
