CEO Roundtable: Business Sustainability for Sustainable Businesses
Hanson Bridgett is hosting the Alliance of CEOs Roundtable discussion for CEOs who run businesses whose product or service helps our world to be greener. CEOs will come together to discuss the special challenges of making those businesses thrive. This will be a discussion about how to run these unique businesses. The event will not discuss how to "green up" standard businesses, nor will it discuss whether businesses should be more green or less green. There will be no panel or presentation. Attending CEOs will bring their issues for discussion. We expect some of those issues to be:
| |
• |
|
How to better influence and manage supply chains to adhere to sustainable practices. |
| |
• |
|
How to identify when customers will pay extra for green products and services. |
| |
• |
|
Challenges and opportunities with changing legislation and managing with different legislative environments in different countries. |
Attending CEOs should be running a company where a significant revenue generator is a product or service that helps our world be more sustainable, or whose unique differentiator is sustainability.

Presidio Launches Executive Certificate Program, Announces New 2009 Dates
Presidio School of Management's inaugural Executive Certificate program kicked off July 10 with sustainable business thought leaders Hunter Lovins, Peter Warshall and Sissel Waage. Held at Hanson Bridgett's executive conference room in downtown San Francisco, 33 senior-level participants gathered to learn how to achieve real change within a variety of organizations and gain the practical skills they need to drive sustainability initiatives.
Presidio faculty member and Natural Capitalism co-author Hunter Lovins lectured the first day on the business case for sustainability. Beginning with the global drivers of change, Lovins laid out a profitable business case for climate protection, citing leading examples of Fortune 500 companies that are cutting costs and increasing revenues. She outlined the principles of natural capitalism, history of sustainability, cradle to cradle and biomimicry concepts, and the various sustainability frameworks and tools business leaders use.
