San Francisco Chamber of Commerce Honors Hanson Bridgett with "Ebbie" Award for Corporate Philanthropy
Distinguished Law Firm Recognized for Work with Local School;
Receives Eighth Public Service/Diversity Award in 2004
Hanson Bridgett LLP, one of the oldest and most respected law firms in San Francisco, was awarded the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce's prestigious Excellence in Business Award, also known as the "Ebbie," for corporate philanthropy. The award was presented last night at the Chamber's gala, held at the San Francisco Marriott, and is the eighth recognition for the firm's public service and diversity efforts in 2004.
Nominated for the award by the San Francisco School Volunteers (SFSV), Hanson Bridgett was lauded for its launch of a girls' mentoring program at Enola D. Maxwell Middle School. The firm has also volunteered its time for tutoring, honor roll and mentoring lunches and school beautification projects and made donations of furniture and computer equipment.
"We are very honored to receive this award," said Andrew Giacomini, managing partner of Hanson Bridgett. "San Francisco School Volunteers is just one of the many partner organizations to which two-thirds of our staff donate their time for either community service, pro bono legal services or both. Volunteering is a fundamental part of our culture, and we encourage our attorneys and staff to get involved with organizations they are passionate about. In this particular case, every volunteer involved has developed a deeply personal interest in these students."
"This partnership has taken on a life of its own as Hanson Bridgett worked with us to meet the needs of the school. The volunteers' enthusiasm and dedication have made a positive impact on the students," said SFSV Allies for Education Program Coordinator Laura Lhotsky. "We nominated Hanson Bridgett for this prestigious award because the volunteers are all genuine in their concern, they have shown incredible leadership and motivation, and they serve as a wonderful example for other businesses in actively giving back to the community."
