Hanson Bridgett Welcomes Its Law School Class of 2007
San Francisco (October 1, 2007) — Hanson, Bridgett, Marcus, Vlahos & Rudy LLP announced today that Sharon Wu, Mark Gabel, Paul Gruwell, Trent Latta and Julie Sherman have been offered first year positions within the firm. Each, with the exception of Latta, has not yet passed the bar.
"We are proud of this year's incoming class, which represents a wide variety of practice areas within the firm," Managing Partner Andrew Giacomini said. "Each of our new attorneys has demonstrated the highest levels of professional achievement and has strong leadership abilities."
Sharon Wu will be placed in the Transactional Department with an emphasis on Healthcare. She received her B.A. from U.C. Berkeley with high honors and her J.D. from U.C. Davis, graduating in the top third of her class. She also served as a judicial extern for The Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara under the supervision of Hon. William F. Martin. She also speaks, writes and reads Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese fluently.
Mark Gabel will be placed in the Litigation Department with an emphasis on Labor and Employment. He received his B.A. from U.C. Berkeley with high distinction and his J.D. from U.C. Hastings College of Law, graduating in the top 6% of his class. As a law student, Mark received many awards and distinctions including: Staff member of the Hastings Law Journal, the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Civil Procedure and Torts, the Witkin Award for Civil Procedure and Torts, and the Appellate Advocacy Award for Best Brief. He also served as a judicial clerk for The County Counsel's Office, County of Marin.
Paul Gruwell will be placed in the Litigation practice. He received his B.S. from Brigham Young and his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law, graduating in the top 5% of his class. As a law student, Paul also received many awards and distinctions including: Staff member of the law journal, the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Civil Procedure, the Moot Court's Best Oral Argument Award and he served as a member of the McAuliffe Honor Society. He also speaks, writes and reads Portuguese fluently.
Trent Latta will also be placed in the Litigation practice. He received his B.A. from Western Washington University and his J.D. from the Golden Gate University School of Law, graduating in the top 5% of his class and earning the Merit Scholarship Award three years in a row and making Dean's List.
Julie Sherman will be placed in the Transactional Department and working with the Firm's Government practice. She received her B.A. from State University of New York at Buffalo, graduating cum laude, and her J.D. from U.C. Berkeley. Julie's experience working for California Asylum Representation Clinic and as an judicial extern for U.S. District Court, Northern District of California, have provided extensive hands on experience for her position at Hanson Bridgett.
