Hanson Bridgett Expands Diversity Involvement through LCLD
Leadership Council on Legal Diversity's mission is increased diversity in legal profession

February 18, 2015 (SAN FRANCISCO, CA) — Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) member Hanson Bridgett LLP is proud to announce that Partner Megan Oliver Thompson has been selected for the 2015 LCLD Fellows program, a national organization made up of the legal profession’s top general counsel and managing partners. Hanson Bridgett has been a member of LCLD since 2011. Past Hanson Bridgett Fellows include John Cu, Mohammad Walizadeh, Anne Hydorn and Jahmal Davis.

"I am honored to be selected for the 2015 LCLD Fellows program and to be a part of the important work that LCLD is doing to increase diversity in the legal profession," said Megan Oliver Thompson, partner in the firm's litigation section.

Launched in 2011, the LCLD Fellows program is an ambitious, highly structured initiative built to increase diversity at the leadership levels of the nation’s law firms and corporate legal departments. Over the course of the year-long program, participants will be challenged to improve their professional brand, build relationships that enhance professional development, participate in corporate learning experiences, and sharpen stewardship and leadership skills.

We are also pleased to announce that Managing Partner Andrew Giacomini has been named to the LCLD Board of Directors. "I am hopeful that my participation on this Board will continue to add value to the mission of LCLD. I will be ably assisted in that mission by John, Mohammad, Anne and Jahmal, all of whom are past LCLD Fellows and are taking an active role in the organization," said Andrew.

"We've been a part of LCLD since its inception in large part because increasing diversity in the legal profession is important to Hanson Bridgett and to the practice of law as a whole. LCLD is one of many initiatives we focus on to help move the needle," said John Cu, partner and chair of the firm's Diversity and Inclusion Network. "The fact that our managing partner, Andrew Giacomini, was named to the LCLD board further solidifies our commitment to this important organization.”

LCLD is a national organization made up of the general counsel and managing partners of the leading corporations and law firms in the country. The Fellows initiative is one of several launched by LCLD since the organization’s founding in 2009. Other programs include a national mentoring initiative serving more than 2,000 mentors and mentees, a 1L Scholars program involving more than 200 first-year law students, and special programming for members through CLE presentations and other platforms.
