Hanson Bridgett LLP Attorneys Achieve LEED® Accreditation in Advance of San Francisco's New Green Building Ordinance (October 13, 2008)

Hanson Bridgett leads all California law firms with four LEED® accredited professionals

San Francisco, CA (October 13, 2008)—Hanson Bridgett LLP announced today that four attorneys in its Real Estate Practice Group, including Practice Chair David C. Longinotti, have earned certification as U.S. Green Building Council LEED® Accredited Professionals, enabling the firm to better advise clients on San Francisco's new green building codes which come into effect November 1.

Along with Mr. Longinotti, Hanson Bridgett LLP associates Annette K. Mathai-Jackson, Yolanda C. Manzone and Anita G. Zerounian, have been awarded the LEED® AP certification. Professionals who have been awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) accreditation have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles as well as of the LEED® Green Building Rating System.

"Hanson Bridgett's real estate lawyers have a reputation for creativity and excellence, and working to obtain the LEED® AP certification is further proof of their strong commitment to their clients' needs," said Andrew Giacomini, Managing Partner at Hanson Bridgett. "We are now well poised to serve our real estate and construction clients who are developing and managing green buildings as part of our Firm's overall sustainability practice."

Starting November 1, San Francisco will require certain new buildings to meet the green building standards. New residential high-rises taller than 75 feet; new commercial buildings larger than 5,000 square feet and renovations on buildings larger than 25,000 square feet will have to meet the LEED® standards developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. Buildings are given certified silver, gold or platinum LEED® ratings depending on their energy efficiency and how many green features they incorporate.

Hanson Bridgett's Real Estate Practice Group provides comprehensive legal services to a wide array of real estate clients, including real estate investors, developers, buyers, sellers, owners, managers, landlords and tenants both locally and nationally. The firm serves as counsel to many major real estate industry participants, such as investor/developers, senior and health care providers, shopping centers and public transportation agencies.

Earlier this year, Hanson Bridgett LLP expanded its Real Estate, Water, Environmental and Business Practices with the addition of 12 lawyers from McQuaid, Bedford & Van Zandt LLP.
