Hanson Bridgett Receives Community Relations Award of Excellence LMA recognizes Sound Check fundraiser for the SF Women's Reentry Center (March 5, 2008)
San Francisco (March 5, 2008) — Hanson Bridgett received the Award of Excellence for Community Relations from the Legal Marketing Association, Bay Area Chapter for the firm's production of Sound Check. The annual concert event has already raised over $75,000 in two years for the Women's Reentry Center ─ a San Francisco facility overseen by the San Francisco Sheriff's Department that provides transition services to women recently released from jail.
Showcasing the musical talents of attorneys and other staffers, Sound Check was first held in 2006 at the Independent, a cutting edge music venue located on Divisadero Street in San Francisco. In late 2007, Sound Check was moved to a more prestigious venue: Slim's, which is owned in part by Boz Scaggs and frequented by performers such as Bonnie Rait and Eric Clapton. On each occasion, money was raised from law firms and other businesses that had paid $5,000 each for the privilege of having their bands take to the stage at leading San Francisco night clubs. Additional funds were raised through silent auctions organized by the event's co-producer, Leadership San Francisco.
Sound Check is just a recent example of Hanson Bridget's long history of giving back to the communities that have supported the firm for nearly 50 years. The Women's Reentry Program provides vocational and soft-skills training, childcare, counseling services and a host of other services to women who have just been released from jail, giving them a better chance of staying out of prison.
