Hanson Bridgett's Marin Office Gets Certified as a Sustainable Business (July 10, 2009)
Hanson Bridgett LLP announced today that its North Bay office has fulfilled the requirements of the Bay Area Green Business Program and is now certified as a Bay Area Green Business. The firm will be honored at a formal recognition ceremony held before the Board of Supervisors in August. Bay Area Green Businesses pledge to conserve natural resources, practice pollution prevention, and be environmentally responsible. In obtaining this certification, Hanson Bridgett pledged to be in compliance with the environmental regulations set forth by the Bay Area Green Business Program, and to continue its sustainability efforts for a minimum of three years.
Hanson Bridgett launched its sustainability profile when the City of San Francisco granted the firm's San Francisco office its Green Certificate in 2008. After receiving its San Francisco certification, Hanson Bridgett began working to green its other offices. In March of 2009, the firm's Sacramento office became a certified sustainable business. Hanson Bridgett's North Bay certification is an important step in continuing the firm's sustainability efforts. Now all but one of the firm's four offices are certified Green Businesses. Efforts to certify the Silicon Valley office are already underway.
"It is becoming more and more evident that a successful business is dependent on environmental responsibility," said Gary Giacomini, Hanson Bridgett's North Bay Office Head. "As Head of Hanson Bridgett's North Bay office and former Marin County Supervisor, I see our Green Business certification as not only an obligation, but also a great opportunity. It makes us a more successful, efficient firm, while also allowing us to set an example for other businesses in our community."
