James manages civil and regulatory litigation for health care industry clients and providers of long-term care services. His clients include skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, independent living communities, continuing care retirement communities and intermediate care facilities for the developmentally disabled. James' practice includes litigation related to federal deficiencies, citations, elder abuse, wrongful death, medical staff disputes, unfair business practices, false claims, contracts, business torts.

James guides his clients through actions involving the California Department of Public Health, California Department of Social Services, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. James provides advice regarding disputes with governmental agencies and manages investigations by government agencies.

James also has extensive experience litigating complex business disputes for a large variety of business entities. He has successfully completed numerous jury and bench trials in both state and federal court and arbitrations regarding a wide range of disputes.

James lectures frequently on legal issues of concern to the health care industry.
