It is almost inevitable that a substancial number of residents in independent seniors housing have or will acquire care needs, creating a dilemma for managers who neither promise or are prepared to provide care, but who must deal with complex challenges those circumstances present. Unlike care facilities, which often have licensure restrictions and more ability to control how resident care is managed, the unlicensed independent living property often has less ability to restrict residents with higher care needs, and ironically, may attract resdients with a greater need for care.
