Attention Government Entities: Economic Stimulus Package Update
The Department of Energy recently announced plans to make available $3.2 billion in Federal grants to fund projects that will reduce fossil fuel emissions and total energy use, and improve energy efficiency. The funds will be available to states, cities, and other units of local governments as well as Native American tribes.
The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program, which will be administered by the Department of Energy Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), designates over $400 million of Block Grant funds to California. It provides funding for, among other things, energy audits and energy efficiency improvements and conservation measures, the implementation of alternative energy projects, cogeneration, energy storage systems, district heating and cooling systems and other energy programs.

Presidio's NEW Master's of Public Administration in Sustainable Management
Presidio School of Management has launched a unique Master's of Public Administration (MPA) in Sustainable Management, in response to the growing need for professionals who can sustainably lead public, civic and nonprofit institutions. The first cohort of MPA students will begin classes in fall 2009. Presidio, established in 2003, offers graduate programs in sustainable management, including an MBA and Executive program. The new two-year, full-time MPA, is modeled after the successful MBA, which integrates sustainability, leadership, and systems-thinking into every aspect of the curriculum. Presidio's approach to integration is particularly relevant to the MPA degree, given public administrators' interconnected requirements to manage all resources more effectively and more equitably.
