Hanson Bridgett Joins Mansfield 4.0

July 27, 2020 (San Francisco, CA) – Hanson Bridgett has joined 116 law firms in seeking certification under the latest iteration of the Mansfield Rule, with the primary goal of boosting the representation of diverse lawyers in law firm leadership by broadening the pool of candidates considered for such opportunities.

"Hanson Bridgett has long considered diversity and inclusion as a core value of the firm, and we have been dedicated to establishing a workforce that reflects the needs and interests of our clients, attorneys and staff," said Kristina Lawson, managing partner-elect. "We continually strive to do better in this area and seeking Mansfield certification will help us do this."

Named for Arabella Mansfield, the first woman admitted to the practice of law in the United States, the Mansfield Rule measures whether law firms have affirmatively considered at least 30% women, attorneys of color, LGBTQ+ and lawyers with disabilities for leadership and governance roles, equity partner promotions, formal client pitch opportunities, and senior lateral positions. Firms are audited bi-annually and certified annually as they follow, comply, and achieve the Rules’ requirements.

"We are firmly committed to the growth and success of our diverse lawyers, and the Mansfield Rule is a tool to help us ensure that our firm’s leadership reflects the diversity of our clients and the larger community that we serve," said André Campbell, partner and head of the firm's Diversity and Inclusion Network.
