Intro
Shannon represents public and private clients with a wide variety of litigation needs. She has significant experience representing the firm's litigation clients against individual and class action claims. Her work in this area concerns the defense of product manufacturers, suppliers, retailers, and premises owners in personal injury and defective product/premises litigation. She also defends clients in Toxic Tort matters. Her cases have involved catastrophic injuries, automobile accidents, children's products, cosmetics, chemicals, food and related services, consumer goods, asbestos, and other toxic substances. Shannon also handles business litigation, including breach of contract actions for goods and services, property damage claims, and indemnity and subrogation issues. In addition, she has provided advice and litigation defense on matters involving product and food labeling claims, organic labeling issues under COPA, and Proposition 65 claims.
Shannon also maintains a real estate litigation practice, specifically litigating eminent domain actions for both public and private clients. She has represented both condemnors and condemnees, and has experience serving as an advisor and trial lawyer for all aspects of the condemnation process. This includes planning and preparing for board actions, early resolution and negotiations of right of way and use agreements, selection and preparation of experts to motions for prejudgment possession, and trial on just compensation.
On top of her litigation experience, she advises clients on their obligations to Medicare for medical expense reimbursement and assists in drafting settlement language in compliance with the Medicare Secondary Payer Act.
In her prior career, Shannon taught, coached, and coordinated service programs for Bellarmine College Preparatory High School in San Jose. She was awarded the 2005 Educator of the Year by San Jose Magazine, still one of her greatest honors.
