Robin Baral Moderating Panel for Bay Area Council

San Francisco, California
September 19 | 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM PST

The Bay Area’s downtowns are at a crossroads. According to the Bay Area Council Economic Institute, Downtown San Francisco’s sales tax receipts remain 11 percent below their pre-pandemic amounts, one of the only major downtowns in the region to continue facing a tax shortfall versus 2019 amounts.

Join the Bay Area Council on Thursday, September 19., 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM for a robust conversation on how to solve the problem of what to do about Downtowns in the Bay Area with the first in a series of conversations on the topic.

From 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, we will be joined by experts in the topic of office-to-housing conversions to figure out if this strategy is really effective one for accomplishing the goal of downtown recovery.

Joining us will be:
- Jeffrey Heller, President, Heller Manus Architects
- Marc Babsin, President, Emerald Fund
- Holly Arnold, Director, Gensler Architects
- Abby Raisz, Research Director, Bay Area Council Economic Institute
-  Robin Baral, Senior Counsel, Hanson Bridgett LLP (Moderator)

And from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, this conversation will be followed by an optional happy hour sponsored by Emerald Fund, where we will encourage more discussion on the topic.
