California Publishes New Consumer Privacy Regulations

Health and Safety Code Section 1418.8 ("Epple") in 2023: Updates and Reminders

Starting this week, skilled nursing facilities and intermediate care facilities in California must follow additional requirements when providing interventions that require informed consent to residents who lack the capacity to consent and do not have a representative. With the Long-Term Care Patient Representative Program operational as of January 27, 2023, skilled nursing facilities and intermediate care facilities must now include a patient representative on every interdisciplinary team convened under section 1418.8 of the California Health and Safety Code.
