Hanson Bridgett Launches Claude AI Across Legal and Business Operations

One of the first AmLaw 200 firms to deploy Claude firmwide for attorneys and professional staff

SAN FRANCISCO – June 1, 2026 – Hanson Bridgett LLP, a full-service law firm headquartered in San Francisco with offices across California, announced today that it has adopted Anthropic’s Claude  platform firmwide for attorneys and professional staff.

The rollout comes weeks after Anthropic launched Claude for Legal, including practice-area-specific workflows and integrations that connect Claude directly to platforms law firms already use for e-discovery, document management, contract review, and legal research.

The firm’s rollout includes a written AI use policy, restrictions around what information may be used within AI systems, enterprise-grade data protections, and ongoing internal review of workflows and outputs. The governance framework was developed in advance of the rollout and applies firmwide across attorneys and professional staff.

“This is about building long-term capability across the firm, helping our attorneys and professional staff adapt thoughtfully as these tools evolve, and creating a foundation for how we continue learning and innovating over time,” said Laura Long, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer at Hanson Bridgett.

Employees across Hanson Bridgett now have access to Claude for approved firm and client work, with guidelines and oversight developed by the firm’s IT, operations, and risk management teams. The platform is being used to support day-to-day work ranging from document review and drafting to research, organization, and internal operations.

“Part of our culture is challenging what’s expected and making thoughtful investments that help our people better serve clients,” Long added. “We see AI as an opportunity to lead responsibly, support our attorneys and professional staff, and continue building a more thoughtful and forward-looking firm.”

Hanson Bridgett attorneys are using Claude to assist with tasks including summarizing deposition testimony and lengthy records, drafting routine correspondence and memos, comparing document versions, and supporting due diligence review in corporate transactions. Professional staff teams across operations, marketing, HR, finance, knowledge management, and IT are also using the platform for drafting, editing, research, and organizational workflows. Claude serves as the foundation of the firm’s growing AI portfolio, which also includes Microsoft Copilot and a range of additional platforms the firm continues to actively evaluate.

“AI is a tool that can support legal work, but it does not replace professional judgment or attorney responsibility,” said Brad Hise, Hanson Bridgett’s risk management partner. “As the legal industry continues working through the risks and limitations associated with AI tools, our focus has been on putting governance structures and oversight in place before deployment and implementing these tools in ways that align with the duties we owe our clients.”

Hanson Bridgett does not anticipate reducing summer associate or entry-level hiring as a result of the rollout. The firm views AI literacy and responsible AI use as increasingly important professional skills and plans to incorporate both into training and development efforts across the firm.
