Hanson Bridgett Partner Ellis Raskin Elected to Santa Monica City Council
November 15, 2024 (Los Angeles, CA) - Hanson Bridgett LLP congratulates partner Ellis Raskin on his election to the Santa Monica City Council. Raskin, an accomplished real estate and environmental attorney, is widely recognized for his expertise and dedication to providing high-quality legal counsel to public agencies, privately held companies, and other stakeholders throughout California in complex real estate, housing, and land use matters, including urban development, housing laws, and environmental policy.
As a member of the Santa Monica City Council, Raskin will address critical issues such as homelessness, sustainability, and protections for renters at risk of eviction and displacement. He is also focused on economic development and supporting local businesses as Santa Monica continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Like many Hanson Bridgett attorneys before him, Ellis is committed to bettering his community through public service,” said Hanson Bridgett Managing Partner Kristina Lawson. “His dedication to the public interest and his expertise in environmental law and land use are invaluable assets, both to our clients and to the residents of Santa Monica. We are looking forward to seeing all that Ellis accomplishes in his term on the city council.”
Raskin’s public service extends beyond this election. Since 2020, he has served on the Santa Monica Planning Commission and completed his term in 2024 after being elected chair. He is also an elected member of the executive committee of the Sierra Club’s Angeles Chapter and the steering committee of Santa Monicans for Renters’ Rights.
