Hanson Bridgett Strengthens Water Law Bench

November 17, 2022 (Sacramento, CA) — Hanson Bridgett LLP is pleased to announce that David Cameron has joined the firm's Sacramento office as a partner in the Government Section and the Water Law Practice Group.

He is a respected water law attorney in the Sacramento area and across California and brings a high-level of expertise and reputation to our firm.”

Cameron’s practice focuses on water rights and environmental issues throughout California. He helps clients, both public and private, secure and protect their water rights, the purchase and sale of water rights, compliance with the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act, water banking, and related environmental and endangered species issues. In his work, Cameron provides practical legal solutions to his clients, which include water districts, irrigation districts, cities, counties, and agricultural interests. He has acted as special counsel for multiple districts on water rights-related matters, facilitating purchase and sale of water rights and contractual entitlements to water among public and private entities. Cameron's work also includes compliance and litigation concerning the California Environmental Quality Act as well as the state and federal endangered species acts. His work requires him to navigate approvals through numerous state and federal agencies including the State Water Resources Control Board and U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. He is also a seasoned water rights and environmental litigator, advocating for client water rights in state and federal court.

Cameron was most recently a partner at Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo. Prior to that, he was a partner at Downey Brand in its Water and Natural Resources Group. He received dual B.A.s from the University of California at Berkeley (where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society) and his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he was a law review editor, member of the Order of the Coif, and member of the Traynor Honor Society.
