Hanson Bridgett Helps Secure Approval for Landmark Housing and Senior Living Community in Marin County

Marin County, CA – June 24, 2026 – Hanson Bridgett successfully guided North Coast Land Holdings through a complex, multi-year entitlement process culminating in the unanimous approval of a transformative mixed-use housing and senior living community in Strawberry, Marin County.

On June 9, the Marin County Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to approve the redevelopment of the former Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary campus, clearing the way for a project that will deliver 337 residences, a senior living community, educational facilities, and significant open space preservation on approximately 127 acres.

The approval marks the culmination of more than 14 years of work involving environmental review, community engagement, negotiations with stakeholders, and multiple rounds of entitlement efforts.

Hanson Bridgett’s team was led by Partner Andrew Giacomini and Managing Partner Kristina Lawson, building on work originally initiated by former Marin County Supervisor Gary Giacomini. Partner Ellis Raskin also played a significant role in advancing the project through the approval process. The team also worked closely with co-counsel Eric Phillips of Burke, Williams & Sorensen, who offered important guidance to the client.

The project will create a unique intergenerational community that combines market-rate and affordable housing, senior living facilities, educational uses, and extensive recreational and open space amenities. Approximately 70% of the property will remain dedicated to open space, walking trails, and recreational uses.

“This project represents years of collaboration, persistence, and problem-solving,” Giacomini said. “We are proud to have helped our client navigate a challenging entitlement process and reach an outcome that delivers much-needed housing, senior living opportunities, educational uses, and open space preservation for Marin County. The unanimous approval reflects the thoughtful work that went into addressing community concerns while advancing a project with long-term regional benefits.”

The approval follows years of environmental review and extensive engagement with county staff, elected officials, and community stakeholders. Hanson Bridgett assisted the developer through multiple public hearings, including proceedings before the Marin County Planning Commission and the Marin County Board of Supervisors.

The project is widely viewed as one of the most significant redevelopment opportunities in southern Marin and addresses critical regional needs for housing while preserving substantial open space and community amenities.

Hanson Bridgett continues to represent North Coast Land Holdings as the project advances into permitting and future development phases.
