Hanson Bridgett Ranks No. 4 on The American Lawyer's National Diversity Scorecard

July 3, 2024 (San Francisco, CA)—Hanson Bridgett LLP is excited to announce that the firm has been acknowledged for its proactive approach to diversity, equity, and inclusion in The American Lawyer's annual Diversity Scorecard. With the No. 4 ranking in 2024, the firm advanced 3 spots in the national list, breaking into the top 5 for the first time. The scorecard features 208 firms and emphasizes minority representation — including the percentages of minority attorneys overall at the firm, as well as in partner and leadership positions.

“To continue to be recognized for our work — especially during the current legal climate surrounding DEI programs — brings our firm much pride,” said Jennifer Martinez, Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer. “We aim for our firm to reflect the California communities we're so deeply engaged in, and we'll continue to double down on our efforts.”

Collectively among the firms ranked on the scorecard, minority attorneys comprised 22.4 percent of lawyers and 13.6 percent of partners in 2023. At Hanson Bridgett, 57 percent of associates are women and 61 percent are members of an ethnic minority. 38 percent of partners are women, and 22 percent of partners are members of an ethnic minority.

Hanson Bridgett's real-action approach to DEI and the desire to make the legal profession more representative and equitable as a whole is led by Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer Jennifer Martinez. The firm is currently headed by a female Managing Partner and a C-Suite that consists of more than 50 percent women and nearly 30 percent LGBTQ+.

Half of the firm's Section Leaders are women and more than 60 percent of Hanson Bridgett's attorney population are from backgrounds considered underrepresented in the legal profession.
