Supplemental Paid Sick Leave Requirements for COVID-19-Related Absences
California employers will once again be required to provide supplemental paid sick leave to employees for COVID-19-related absences. Governor Gavin Newsom issued a press release on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 announcing an agreement with Legislative leaders on a framework for the new legislation. The details of the proposal have not been released. However, the new law is expected to require employers with 26 or more employees to provide up to 80 hours of supplemental paid sick leave for qualifying reasons related to COVID-19. Hanson Bridgett will continue to track this development and provide updates. You may find updates and additional information on our COVID-19 Resource Center.
