Overview of Services

Whether developing a state-of-the-art project or resolving a contentious dispute, Hanson Bridgett's Chambers USA ranked construction group delivers tailored solutions that serve our clients' business goals. We are a part of the construction industry's leading edge and can pragmatically apply best practices drawing from our deep base of experience. We are passionate about the design and construction industry and serving our client's interests, whether locally, regionally, nationally or abroad.

Hanson Bridgett represents all industry segments, including public and private owners, general contractors, architects, engineers and specialty subcontractors. Our project experience is equally broad, encompassing highway and light rail, tunnels and pipelines, hospital and health care, clean and waste water treatment, educational and government, coastal and marine, geotechnical and environmental, commercial and industrial. We also have a strong sustainability practice with LEED® accredited professionals.

Hanson Bridgett’s attorneys have helped develop processes and standards for Building Information Modeling (BIM), Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) and Lean Construction. Along with sustainability, these are among the most significant developments in the AEC industry. Representative examples of our research and white papers are available here. In addition, the Construction Group has significant experience in other alternative project delivery systems such as design-build and public/private partnerships (P3).

Unfortunately, not every project ends well. And when aggressive advocacy is required, the Construction Group has the right resources. We have prosecuted and defended major construction claims, and we are thoroughly familiar with delay, impact and loss of efficiency issues, default termination and surety disputes, and mechanics' lien and stop notice remedies. We also know how to efficiently analyze and manage the vast quantities of paper-based and digital information generated on a modern construction project. Insurance often plays a central role in construction disputes and we have considerable experience with construction insurance coverage claims, including errors and omissions, builders risk, environmental contamination, and general liability. We also recognize that disputes are often best resolved without litigation, and we have long and successfully used mediation and arbitration when appropriate.

The Construction Group is complemented by individual attorneys within the labor and employment, business, environmental, real estate, insurance, general litigation and public agency sections. These attorneys regularly advise and represent our construction clients and allow us to provide a broad spectrum of specialized legal services tailored to the construction industry.
